With equal passion, the former finance minister of Greece, Yanis Varoufakis, condemned the killing in the Gaza Strip. He said: “What I refuse to do is to join the ritualistic condemnation of one side whose very purpose is to take the side of a state cynically, intertemporally and brutally imposing Apartheid over many decades”. Mr. Yanis added that was no different to 1981 when, as Anti-Apartheid demonstrators in London, the British media were pushing us to condemn the ANC for necklacing (a horrible practice indeed) – a condemnation sought by those who sought to undermine the Anti-Apartheid struggle at a time, lest we forget, Nelson Mandela was branded by the U.S., U.K. & Israeli governments a terrorist”.
Observers described the acts taking place right now as a disgrace, real terrorism, especially after Netanyahu said in a fiery speech, as Israel masses troops near the Gaza Strip, “Every Hamas member is a dead man,’
It is worth mentioning that the U.S. invaded Iraq in 2003 based on concerns about weapons of mass destruction and regime change, which turned out to be false, and yet 6 million Iraqis died, and the country is still in ruins. Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, and Vietnam are other examples.
