Amjad Abu Al-Ela, the producer of the movie Goodbye Julia, responded to his name, Natalia Yacoub, Miss Nuba Mountains, as a transgression and marginalization of her by the film family that chose her to play the role of Julia before she was bypassed and another character was chosen without receiving an apology from them. Natalia had appeared during a television interview two days ago. She told her story with the producer and director of the film, supporting her talk with pictures of the conversations that took place between them.
In his response to Natalia, Amjad Abu Al-Ela described what she did by publishing the conversations as breaking confidentiality, and said that the file that Natalia published is called a lookbook, and any film or series project must have such a file (presentation), which changes and develops throughout the process of preparing the work. “Zad a producer, and actor was changed, so-and-so withdrew, or for other reasons an actor was changed because he was not suitable for the new versions. The character’s requirements were written and changed, or an actress, like Nancy Agag, apologized for reasons of her own and we respected her, and so on.” He said.
Communications and promotion
Abu Al-Ela stressed that the correspondence or the video that Natalia published was never considered a promotion of the film or manipulation of her audience or the use of her photos. “We did not manipulate Natalia’s audience or the media because they never saw this video in the film’s campaign, but they saw it through Natalia’s presentation of it in the television interview.” He added. He said that the conversations that were presented were for internal use, and what Natalia shared was not for publication, “In the screenshots that I shared, it is clear that we said under the file Confidential.” He said.
This means that it is not for publication and therefore it has not been promoted because it is originally only shared with entities affiliated with the project through emails and private messages.”
Legal liability
Abu Al-Ela said in his response to Natalia that what she did would expose her to legal accountability, but he will not do so because what she did in publishing revealed private secrets that the public does not know. “What she presented was not published before today, which means that she broke the terms of confidentiality that she agreed to in a television interview, especially since she announced personalities such as actress Nancy Ajaj and Khaled Al-Bay were candidates for the roles of Mona and Akram.” He added. “The truth is that if this talk happened in another world, it would expose it to litigation, but that will not happen for reasons that Abu Al-Ela attributed to a lack of experience in dealing with the details of artistic works and the way they are handled behind the scenes.” She added.
Audition
As for her transgression at work and what she described as marginalization, Abu Al-Ela attributed this to several reasons, “We did not choose her simply because these have been years and we have reached that what is required is a South Sudanese, not a Sudanese. My last message to her was that we would do an audition, and there was never a resolution in the matter.” Abu Al-Ela said. “A year ago, there were social changes for Natalia, from one marriage to another. We had changes in the form of the personality and its requirements, so nothing happened simply.” He added.
Acknowledgment of mistakes
Despite Abu Al-Ela’s justifications for the change, in his response to Natalia, he acknowledged their mistake in not informing her and apologizing to her, “She has a right. We should have informed her and apologized to her.” He explained.
But that did not happen for reasons revealed by Abu Al-Ela, “In general, it was not a nice relationship at all, in the way she spoke with the director and the condescending formula in which she spoke (me, my situation, and my work in the presidency).” He said. He pointed out that the condescending formula continued from Natalia until her speech in the television interview in the television interview. “It is clear that she is world famous, and her picture in the file will spread enthusiasm among the world’s producers to support the film simply because it contains Natalia.” He added.
Advice from consultants
“She has the right to be proud of herself, and we are proud of her as well, but what happened between us in the cinema tradition is called a period of getting to know each other, through which we determine whether we are good for each other or not, whether she is fit to be Julia or not.” Abu Al-Ela said. “The role was directed to a South Sudanese woman, and this was with his advice.” He added. Consultants from South Sudan.” Abu Al-Ela admitted that he loves Natalia’s acting and respects her experience, “I personally love her acting very much and respect her career and I still respect her and I hope that she will play more important roles in the future.” She added.
