Al-Burhan Directs Opening of Atbara Airport During Current Year

The President the Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, has directed the Civil Aviation Authority to include the largest possible number of airports in the list of international airports and to redouble efforts to open Atbara Airport during the current year as a strategic project that achieves internal and external interests.
During his inspection, on Thursday, of the progress of work in rehabilitating, modernizing and maintaining Atbara Airport to make it international in accordance with the required specifications, he stressed the need for the airport specifications to be consistent with the principles and rules in force in the International Civil Aviation Organization.
Al-Burhan reviewed the progress of work in the new terminals and the rehabilitation of the runway with the required specifications and air navigation devices at the airport, in a way that enhances incoming and outgoing operations to meet the country’s needs in all fields.
