Governor of White Nile Stresses Increasing Agricultural and Livestock Production

The Governor of the White Nile, Omar Al-Khalifa Abdullah, has stressed the necessity of using agricultural technologies and benefiting from agricultural experts to increase productivity in the agricultural and livestock sectors and move from traditional agriculture to modern and comprehensive agriculture that achieves high productivity that meets the country’s needs.
During his address to the opening session of the “Green Nafra” workshop, which was organized by the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources in the state in cooperation with the Self-Development Initiative, requesting all groups and sectors to contribute to the renaissance of Sudan. He said that the state is counting on the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources to lead the current stage and provide agricultural production, and that the White Nile is one of the states that are most relied upon to increase agricultural production, secure food for the people of Sudan, and confront any food crisis or famine due to the exit of a number of states which are excluded from the production department due to the security situation.
In the meantime, the Minister of Production and Economic Resources in the state, Wessal Sheikh Farah, confirmed that the workshop was dictated by the current exceptional circumstances in the country, which require increasing agricultural and productive areas to achieve national food security. She said that agriculture represents ninety percent of economic activity in the White Nile State, pointing to the natural resources and capabilities that characterize the state and the ability of farmers in it. The use of agricultural technologies, in addition to the diverse crop structure, are all factors that contribute to the agricultural boom. She praised the state government, which is striving with the ministry to confront the challenges facing financing and preparing for the summer agricultural season in light of the uncertainty and lack of financing. She explained that the green agricultural boom requires expansion in agricultural investment and the formation of a financing portfolio in accordance with financial and accounting controls. She said that the Ministry is looking forward to strategic planning in diversifying crop composition and encouraging agricultural industries.
