The Governor of the Gezira Scheme, Ibrahim Mustafa, has revealed the interest of a number of investors and businessmen in the Republic of Egypt and Turkey to enter into the cultivation of cotton and soybean crops in the Scheme.
During his meeting with the Commissioner-General of the Investment and Social Security Authority, Saif Al-Dawla Saeed, in Port Sudan (Wednesday), he added:
There is a great demand from investors and financing parties to enter into contractual partnerships with the management of the Gezira Scheme and the farmers in the Scheme.
For his part, the Commissioner General of the Investment Authority announced the agency’s desire to conclude contractual partnerships with the management of the Gezira Seed Production Project, in addition to their readiness to provide production inputs, especially fertilizers, and provide them to farmers through the Agricultural Bank.
The Commissioner General of the Investment Authority also expressed their readiness to rehabilitate and modernize the gins of the Gezira Scheme and increase the capacity of the gins in order to achieve economic and social development in the Scheme.
