Moqled: Opening a Global Window through Atbara International Airport

The Secretary-General of the Atbara Chamber of Commerce, Seif El-Din Moqled, has emphasized the importance of establishing the Atbara International Airport and said that the airport will open a global window for the River Nile State and will be among the unique airports, considering it a substitute for Khartoum Airport and a support for other airports. It will also break the central grip of Khartoum that was controlling the economic, industrial, commercial, administrative and political system. He stated in his speech to Al-Ahdath that striking Khartoum during the war caused Sudan to lose balance, while the cards will be rearranged after the end of the war, including the fair distribution of resources in the states.
He pointed out that the River Nile State is one of the agriculturally productive states and rich in livestock and manufacturing industries. He said that Atbara Airport will open a commercial window and a major development renaissance, and will open the door wide to deal with the outside world and achieve rational and sustainable development that will benefit everyone, especially in light of the airport’s mobilization and recovery of all sectors ( Storage, land port, free zone, consulates, international offices, tourism). Therefore, it is considered a great gateway to provide multiple opportunities. Pointing out that all groups (Chamber of Commerce, mining companies, cement factories.) sought to complete the airport. Several projects with the BOT system will be established to improve Atbara International Airport, which is a step that is in the interest of the Sudanese economy.
Pointing out that Atbara International Airport is a dream that has haunted the residents of the state and is within reach of realization, pointing out that the length of the airport’s runway is 3 kilometers, which is one of the lengths that allow all types of aircraft to land at the airport. Atbara Airport is considered the first in Sudan with the length of the runway, while Khartoum Airport has a runway length of 2850 meters, and the rest of the other airports are between 2000 and 2500 meters, as for the airport, indicating that the paving and paving operations for the runway at Atbara Airport are nearing completion.
