The two referees, Edina Alves – who is from Brazil – and the American Maria Victoria Penso, will officiate matches in the tournament as field referees, and they will be assisted by Tatiana Guzman – who is from Nicaragua – who is responsible for the video assistant referee. The list of women also includes 5 female assistant referees. They are: Brazilian Nuisa ​​Bac, Colombian Marie Blanco, Venezuelan Magdalena Rodriguez, and Americans Brooke Mayo and Catherine Nisbet. The South American Confederation said in a statement: This is an important commitment made by CONMEBOL since 2016. It aims to support the development and professionalism of more female elements on and off the field, and to promote Gender equality in many tournaments.
