Absurd War: Six Months on. Facts and Figures

Report: Sudan Events – M. Rashid

The absurd war in Sudan has completed its sixth month and seems to continue for another unknown period.
The estimated number of deaths is not less than 50 thousands and 8 thousand injuries (some of the injured people became disabled).
More than 5 million persons fled their houses and became either IDPs or refugees.
More than 20 million are facing hunger and extreme poverty a matter that makes the concerned UN agencies classify them as persons facing difficulty in getting food.
With the last six months, the absurd war distroyed 80% of the industrial infrastructure in the country.
The Sudanese economy losses in these six months are estimated to US$1 trillion with accompanying the defence infrastructure in the country.
A whole academic year is lost as no student went to school in the last six months.
Around 800.000 university students are now working in marginal jobs e.g. porters, bakers, carwashers etc.
The university study stopped in 155 universities and colleges, out of which 39 are government universities.
More than 8 million pupils and secondary students in the public and private schools are facing unknown fate.
More than 100 teaching hospitals are out of service, 70 of which were suject to looting and mass distruction.
Six months brought Sudan back tens of years during which the citizens missed the feeling of life.
None of those who caused the war care, and they are just looking for is the revenge for their dignity even if it is on the deaf bodies and bloods of the citizens.
We ask Allah the Almighty that this absurd war comes to an end and we return to our houses to resume our normal life.
