OCHA: Ethiopia records unprecedented number of border crossings from Sudan

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), said on Saturday that Ethiopia has recorded more than 85,800 cases of crossing to its borders since fighting broke out between the government army and the rebel Rapid Support militia in mid-April.
The office added in its latest update that the crossing cases that occurred until October 17 were mostly through the Kurmuk and Matama border entry points in the Benishangul and Amhara regions.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs noted that access has increased as the United Nations, in coordination with national partners, continues to facilitate access to paths, which led to the opening of more humanitarian paths.
According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the Ethiopia Humanitarian Response Plan for 2023 was only 30% funded as of October 18 of the total requirement fund of US$3.99 billion.
