85% Yaas Crossing Project is Completed

Director General of the Sea Ports Authority, Captain Mohamed Hassan Mukhtar, affirmed his special attention in Yaas crossing project, and considered it a strategic project because it shortens the distances between the Sudanese ports incubator, the Red Sea state, and a number of other states, particularly the River Nile and the Northern state, thus it is considered a direct support for Sudan’s foreign trade.
This came during the visit of Director General of the Seaports Authority, Captain Mohamed Hassan Mokhtar, accompanied by the Minister of Urban Development, Roads and Bridges, Abdullah Yahya, and a number of the Ministry’s employees, the employees of the Seaports Authority, the leaders of the civil administration, and the local symbols of Al-Qanb and Al-Oleeb, (Wednesday) to the field of the ongoing work on Yaas crossing which is 85% complete.
The delegation received an explanation from the project manager, Eng. Mohamed Al-Amin Heikal, and the technical director, Eng.Mohamed Shaqrab, and they explained that the work on opening the crossing road only remains to level some areas and treat the valleys and creeks.
They said that the cost of paving does not exceed half the cost of opening the crossing and paving the road, indicating that the distance between the crossing and the city of Abu Hamad on the River Nile does not exceed 420 kilometers.
The Minister of Urban Development, Roads and Bridges pledged to pave the road due to its importance and because it is a vital road linking the Red Sea state with the Nile and Northern states.
Capt.Mohamed Hassan Mukhtar, Director General of the Sea Ports Authority, listed the benefits that the country can reap from opening Yaas crossing to link Sudanese ports with a number of other Sudanese states.
While Omda Issa affirmed the importance of the road for the development of the region and its strategic importance for Sudan, the Deputy Nazir of the Region, Ashbadin Hamrour, said that the completion of Yaas crossing was delayed a lot despite its importance, indicating that the region still needs a lot as it is rich in resources and lacks services, according to his expression.
The road, of course, does not only serve the Red Sea state and Sudanese ports, but also other states, most notably the River Nile state, which was expressed by Salah Omar, who was part of the delegation, saying: The River Nile state must be involved, as the completion of the Yaas crossing has aspects that concern it, as it serves its economic future. While the well-known leader in eastern Sudan Alaa El-Din Mukhtar, said that the Yas Pass project is strategic and important, and its completion is a miracle.
