Minister of Interior, Khalil Basha Sayreen, said that Sudan and the European Union EU are in the process of developing a new vision and signing an agreement to regulate illegal immigration.
He said in a press briefing on his participation in the Mediterranean Forum on Illegal Immigration held in Libya, that the new vision is based on determining the requirements of European countries for labor and providing capabilities for transit and source countries to reduce the phenomenon.
He affirmed that the conference approved a specialized working group responsible for determining the requirements of each country, noting that the purpose of the forum is to expand the quadripartite agreement between Malta, Italy, Tunisia and Libya to include African countries that are transit and source countries for illegal immigrants.
He pointed out that the support that the European Union EU was providing to the rebel Rapid Support Forces RSF before the war had stopped, and referred to Libyan demands to deport about 13,000 mercenaries in eastern Libya to their countries, noting that some of them participated in the war in Sudan.
The Minister of Interior said that the Libyan authorities promised to facilitate the visa process for Sudanese to Libya, which reduces the phenomenon of illegal immigration.
He pointed out that he conveyed to his Libyan counterpart the suffering of Sudanese in obtaining visas as one of the factors in reducing illegal immigration.
The Minister of Interior called for finding radical solutions to illegal immigration by developing cooperation and partnership relations between exporting countries, transit countries and countries intended for migrants.
He said that Sudan represents the first line of defense against illegal immigration, which requires support, addition to coordination, cooperation and implementation of security requirements.
He said that Sudan has become a transit and source country for illegal immigration at the same time, pointing out the challenges represented by the vast area of ​​Sudan, the length of the borders and the weakness of the capabilities allocated to combating the phenomenon.
