Price of Sesame Quintal Has Increased
Sudan Events – Exclusive – Rehab Abdullah
Crop trader Wajdi Al-Badawi revealed that sesame harvesting operations are continuing with a very high success rate.
He said in his interview with “Sudan Events” that production has begun to enter the markets in small quantities, and he expects it to reach its peak on the first of next November. He explained that prices range between 65 thousand pounds to 68 thousand pounds per quintal.
However, he stressed that marketing will be limited to the Gedarif market because there is no Omdurman market due to the war.
He pointed out the high prices compared to the global price, and reasoned the continuation of purchases contingent on an increase in the world price or an increase in the exchange rate in Sudan.
He complained about the high cost of exports, which causes exporters to refrain from exporting and thus the public treasury loses revenues in hard currency.
