North Kordofan: Distribution of Seeds in Localities Contributed to the Success of the Agricultural Process

The acting Minister of Production and Economic Resources in North Kordofan State, Ibrahim Hamid Mohamed, confirmed that the distribution of various seeds in localities to small farmers significantly and clearly contributed to achieving good results in the agricultural process, particularly in millet, peanuts, sorghum, and sesame crops.
According to the Sudan News Agency, he added that the state was well-prepared for this year’s agricultural season with a special plan targeting 7 million feddans distributed across the state’s localities, based on the relative advantage of each locality. He pointed out the coordination with several partners and food security organizations, where a series of meetings were held to ensure the success of the agricultural season.
He revealed the formation of a state committee to monitor the season’s progress and address obstacles hindering the agricultural process.
The minister stated that the state was able to secure some agricultural inputs, especially seeds, with the help of partners.
He expects another batch of seeds to arrive soon and confirmed that arrangements are currently underway for the first agricultural survey of the 2024 season to assess the size of established crops and the cultivated areas.
