Al-Ahdath – Agencies
A committee within the United Nations Security Council is considering imposing sanctions on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Operations Commander, Osman Mohammed Hamid, and the RSF Commander in West Darfur, Abdulrahman Juma Bark Allah, for threatening peace, security, and stability in Sudan, including violence and human rights violations.
According to Reuters, if these leaders are designated, it would mark the first sanctions imposed by the United Nations in response to the current conflict in Sudan, which began in mid-April of last year. The agency reported that diplomats stated, “The United States has formally proposed an international travel ban and asset freeze on the RSF Operations Commander Osman Mohammed Hamid Mohammed and RSF Commander in West Darfur Abdulrahman Juma Bark Allah.”
