Grossi: The Nuclear Deal with Iran Needs Very Significant Amendments

Sudan Events – Agencies
After a confidential report from the United Nations’ International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) revealed on Thursday that Iran has increased its stockpile of enriched uranium, the agency’s director said the facts regarding Iran’s nuclear program have surpassed the nuclear agreement.
Rafael Grossi said in an interview with “Al Arabiya/Al Hadath”: “We need more transparency from Iran regarding the nuclear file.”
He added, “Iran has a stockpile of about 170 kg of uranium,” noting that the agency continues monitoring operations through its inspectors in Iran.
Grossi also explained that the nuclear agreement with Iran requires very significant amendments and updates.
He noted that Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon would make it internationally ostracized.
He said, “The President of Iran agreed to hold a meeting with us without specifying a date.”
Kursk Nuclear Plant:
Regarding Ukraine, Grossi said that fighting around the Kursk nuclear power plant has become very close.
He added, “We do not hide any evidence or facts about the Kursk nuclear plant,” expressing concern about nuclear power plants in southern Ukraine.
He continued, “A nuclear war cannot be won at all.”
Saudi Arabia’s Nuclear Ambitions:
As for Saudi Arabia, Grossi said, “Saudi Arabia’s peaceful nuclear ambitions are entirely legitimate.”
He added, “We have no doubts about Saudi Arabia’s respect for international controls and cooperation with us.”
He also stated, “Saudi Arabia has the right to benefit from clean energy sources.”
