Specifications Complete Processing of 14 Tons of Gold in 6 Months

The Sudanese Standards and Metrology Authority continues its regulatory operations through the unit for stamping jewelry and gold exports. Director General Rahaba Saeed highlighted the significant and strategic role of the authority in the precious metals sector according to the Precious Metals and Gemstones Law, involving analysis and testing to determine the carat and stamping of precious metals.
Director of the Red Sea Sector of the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Authority, Tijani Bashir Taha, announced the inspection and analysis of 5,671 gold bars with a total weight of 14 tons for final export during the first half of this year. Consequently, 313 export certificates were issued, alongside the inspection, analysis, and stamping of about 329 samples of local jewelry.
Tijani commended the high awareness of most goldsmiths in understanding and applying the technical procedures and standards for stamping operations. Meanwhile, Ali Adrob, Head of the Jewelry Stamping Unit in the Red Sea Standards Office, revealed the regulatory campaigns conducted by the field team during the past period on gold jewelry display and sales shops in Port Sudan, accompanied by an awareness program and a review of the stamping of gold jewelry and carats. Minor violations related to the decline in carat purity were detected.
