Iran: Israel Pushing the Region to the Brink of a Serious Crisis

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Monday that “Israel is pushing the region to the brink of a serious crisis.

In a tweet on his X account, Araghchi stated: “Israel, by insisting on committing genocide in Gaza and sending its killing machine to the West Bank, is pushing the region to the brink of a serious crisis.”

He added: “If Netanyahu’s Western supporters fail to curb these criminal provocations, they will be held accountable for the consequences, and they will face accountability.”

Tensions in the Middle East have escalated following the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, and senior Hezbollah leader Fuad Shukr in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Iran has vowed to respond and “avenge” these operations, asserting its right to “legitimate self-defense.” Multiple Iranian sources have stated that “the response will be costly.”

Western and Arab countries are pressing for a truce in Gaza to avoid a potential Iranian response against the Israeli state.
