Sudan Events – Nawal Shanan

The Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) revealed that the total grants and consumables received from April to October amounted to 2,625 tonnes of medicines, medical devices and consumables from several donors, while 3,571 tonnes were provided through the National Medical Supplies Fund.

Head of Logistics Health Committee, Dr. Khalil Mohamed Ibrahim, told Sudan Events that coordination to receive medical support is carried out in coordination between all concerned bodies including the FMOH, the National Council for Drugs and Poisons, Specifications and Metrology, the Customs Authority, the Sea Ports Authority, and the security authorities.

He pointed out that needs are prepared in lists according to the total need for the health system, whether medicines or consumables, to be presented to partners, including donor countries or organizations.

Ibrahim noted that all grants are exempt from government fees and are based on correspondence, provided that the name of the recipient bears the Ministry of Health, noting that other organizations are also exempt from government fees according to prior agreements that can be benefited from through direct correspondence with the relevant government agencies (Ministry of Finance).

Ibrahim confirmed that many donors responded, which requires more tight coordination, which reduces the time period and increases the maximum benefit from grants.
