Atta: Army Commander Will Remain Head of State with Sovereign Powers Even After Elections

Member of the Sovereign Council and Assistant to the Army Commander-in-Chief, General Yasir Al-Atta, confirmed that the Army Commander will remain head of state with sovereign powers for four to five electoral terms in Sudan.
In a video address to army personnel, Al-Atta stated that the Army Commander would retain sovereign powers not only during the transitional period but also after elections, lasting through four to five electoral terms.
He emphasized that the military institution would not compromise on Sudan, adding, “I swear by God, the military institution will scrutinize Sudan under a microscope and will not tolerate any compromise.”
