The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, expressed hope that the war in Sudan would end soon and that a process of accountability for violations would begin, ensuring no one escapes punishment.
He met with Sudan’s Attorney General Fateh Tayfour on Thursday in Geneva. According to the Sudanese News Agency, Tayfour briefed the High Commissioner on the work of the national independent committee investigating crimes and violations committed by the Rapid Support Forces militia.
Turk reiterated the need for a ceasefire and for justice to be served.
