Sudan Agrees to Operate Dongola Airport for Humanitarian Purposes

The Sudanese government, represented by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense, has agreed to operate Dongola Airport in northern Sudan for humanitarian purposes.

The acting governor of the Northern State, Abideen Awadallah, met on Tuesday with a delegation from the World Food Programme, in the presence of the Director-General of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Urban Development in the state, Mohamed Sayed Ahmed Fagiri, and the Commissioner of the Humanitarian Aid Commission, Abdel Rahman Ali Khairi.

The meeting addressed the delegation’s visit to the state, which aims to assess the operational readiness of Dongola Airport.

During the visit, the delegation toured the airport and met with its administration, confirming that the airport possesses all the necessary resources for humanitarian operations.
