Sudan Events – Correspondents
Sudanese Sovereign Council Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Wednesday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Burhan briefed Guterres on the crimes and violations committed by the terrorist Rapid Support Forces militia against innocent civilians, targeting infrastructure, hospitals, and public facilities. He emphasized the need for clear condemnation from the international community, especially as these violations target defenseless civilians.
Burhan affirmed the Sudanese government’s cooperation with international and regional humanitarian organizations, pledging to facilitate the passage of humanitarian convoys and deliver aid to those in need. He also noted the government’s approval to open the Adré crossing on the Chadian border to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to those affected by the war.
Guterres called for an end to the war, the alleviation of Sudanese suffering, and the pursuit of dialogue as a means to resolve the conflict in Sudan, praising the Sudanese government’s cooperation in delivering humanitarian aid to those impacted by the war.
