Details of horrific sexual violence committed by militia elements revealed

Sudan Events – Agencies

Sudanese women recounted the details of horrific sexual violence and heinous rape crimes committed by Rapid Support Forces militia elements.

One of the women interviewed by the BBC wondered why the world does not help them confront these horrific crimes, saying, “Some girls are forced by the Rapid Support Forces to lie down in the streets at night. If they return late from the market, the militia detains them for five or six days.” One of the women the BBC spoke to blamed the Rapid Support Forces for raping her. This woman explained that two armed men stormed her house and tried to rape her two daughters, one of whom was (17) years old and the other (10) years old. She said, “I asked the girls to stand behind me, and I told the Rapid Support Forces: If you want to rape someone, let it be me.” She added, “They beat me and ordered me to take off my clothes. Before I took them off, I asked my girls to leave. They took the other children and jumped over the fence. Then one of the men lay on top of me.” Another Sudanese woman spoke to the BBC while carrying twins as a result of the heinous assault carried out by the Rapid Support Forces on Sudanese women. This woman said that one of her neighbors, a (15) year old girl, also became pregnant after she and her (17) year old sister were raped by four Rapid Support Forces soldiers.
The details of this incident are revealed: “People woke up to the sound of their screams, and went out to check on the matter, but they were surprised by armed men who threatened to shoot them if they did not return home. The next morning, they found the two girls with signs of assault on their bodies, while their older brother was locked in one of the rooms.”
