Seizure of Smuggled Goods in Omdurman

Omdurman’s Anti-Smuggling Department seized large quantities of smuggled goods en route to the city. Acting Director General of Customs, Major General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, stated that the seizure was part of the ongoing achievements made by the Customs Department across the states, praising the operation as a significant accomplishment. He called for intensified efforts, particularly in the Omdurman area, which has begun recovering from the effects of the recent rebellion. He noted that the Anti-Smuggling forces are a formidable unit with many officers and soldiers fighting alongside their comrades in the armed forces to defend the homeland while also overseeing the fight against smuggling and protecting the economy.
Acting Assistant Director General for Anti-Smuggling, Major General Yasser Siddig Mohamed Ahmed, commended the operation and praised the efforts of the forces. He noted that the Anti-Smuggling Department forms a strong barrier against all forms of smuggling and participates with the armed forces and various other security forces in securing the city.
The Customs Department’s media office reported that the seizure followed a carefully planned ambush, resulting in the capture of a Dafar vehicle and a Tucson SUV, as well as two suspects. Legal action has been taken against the suspects, and the seized items include 65 packages containing quantities of illegal cosmetics and unregulated medicines that do not comply with health regulations.
