Heavy military clashes erupted along the border south of the Abderafi area near the locality of Al-Qureisha in Gedaref State, eastern Sudan.
The Ethiopian federal army used heavy artillery and machine guns to repel an attack by the Fano militia, consisting of a specialized battalion, as they attempted to attack government forces stationed in the Qatr And settlement.
The Ethiopian forces managed to drive back the Fano militia after hours of fighting, resulting in the militia fleeing with dozens of casualties.
Sources revealed that Ethiopian authorities had deployed military reinforcements and federal security forces, including two battalions equipped with heavy weaponry, modern communication devices, and combat vehicles, stationed at the federal police headquarters in the city of Shahidi near the Basenda locality on the border with Gedaref.
