Hope Committee for Voluntary Return Announces Good News for Sudanese Nationals in Libya

Mohamed Wadaa, head of the Hope Committee for Voluntary Return, has announced positive developments for Sudanese nationals wishing to return from Libya. He revealed that an agreement had been reached to facilitate the return of Sudanese nationals in Libya who wish to travel back to Sudan via Egypt.

Wadaa said the committee was awaiting the green light from the Sudanese authorities to begin the necessary arrangements through the Sudanese Embassy in Egypt and its consulates.

During a press briefing on Monday, Wadaa disclosed that the committee had succeeded in facilitating the free return of 70,000 Sudanese nationals from Egypt to Sudan over a period of six months. He said those repatriated included approximately 8,400 prisoners detained for residency violations, as well as 3,000 patients.

Wadaa emphasized that the Hope Committee is a voluntary body operating in accordance with Sudanese law and governed by regulations covering its establishment, financial management, and penalties.

He stressed that donations to the committee are deposited into a dedicated account at the Sudanese Embassy. Financial procedures are handled through the embassy’s financial attaché and an accountant affiliated with the Accounts Chamber, in addition to a representative of the Auditor General’s Office.

He further confirmed that all financial transactions related to the committee’s activities are conducted in accordance with the applicable procurement and contracting regulations.
