The Sudanese government welcomed the recent statement by the African Union Peace and Security Council, which contained positive directions and constructive proposals.
The government expressed its agreement with the priorities outlined in the statement, particularly the full implementation of the Jeddah Declaration, the evacuation of civilian homes, the facilitation of humanitarian aid, and the council’s call for the immediate lifting of the siege on El Fasher by the RSF, along with its condemnation of atrocities committed by the militias against civilians.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the council’s welcoming of Sudan’s proposed roadmap to resolve the crisis and the decision to enhance the African Union’s positive engagement with Sudan, including the reopening of its office in Port Sudan.
The Ministry also appreciated the council’s call for all African Union institutions to intensify aid to Sudan.
The Sudanese government reiterated its full commitment to constructive engagement with the African Union, the continent’s primary organization, highlighting Sudan’s role as one of the founders and leaders of African cooperation. The government also thanked the members of the Peace and Security Council for their visit to Sudan on the 3rd of this month and the positive outcomes of the visit, reflecting the benefits of direct and frank communication between the African Union and its member states under the principle of African solutions to African problems.
