Customs Agent Explains Rising Clearance Costs

Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah
Customs agent Mamoun Mohamed Osman justified importers’ complaints about rising costs, citing increased maritime shipping expenses.
He attributed this to the rising war insurance costs for ships and containers, adjustments to the customs dollar, and the Central Bank of Sudan’s policy regarding the IM form, requiring importers to use banking procedures instead of temporary customs settlements.
He also mentioned other factors, such as the demand for increased wages by port and warehouse workers.
