Revealing the Death of Hundreds of Detainees by the Militia in Soba Prison

Sudan Events – Follow-ups
Hundreds of families have made urgent appeals to the UN Secretary-General, human rights organizations, and both national and international human rights bodies, regarding Soba Prison, which is under the control of the RSF and holds no fewer than 6,000 detainees, most of whom are innocent civilians arrested on suspicion without any investigation.
According to survivors’ testimonies, the prison houses thousands of kidnapped and detained individuals, including citizens, retired members of the regular armed forces, and elderly people.
They added: “The situation inside the prison is extremely dire, with detainees subjected to harsh and humiliating conditions, including torture, starvation, beatings, and humiliation, amid a complete absence of healthcare.”
It is noteworthy that hundreds of detainees have died either due to systematic torture or because of the spread of diseases and epidemics in the absence of medical care, coupled with the militia’s deliberate starvation of detainees and failure to provide medical examinations.
