U.S.-Ethiopian Talks to Coordinate Efforts for Ending the War in Sudan

U.S.-Ethiopian discussions have reached an agreement to strengthen coordination between the two nations, the African Union, and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to expedite a comprehensive resolution to the Sudanese crisis.
Ethiopia’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mesganu Arga, held extensive talks with the U.S. Special Envoy for Sudan, Tom Perriello, in Addis Ababa. The two sides discussed the latest developments in Sudan and joint efforts to support sustainable political solutions.
The Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the discussions focused on ways to enhance coordination between Ethiopia and the United States, along with the African Union and IGAD, to accelerate the achievement of a comprehensive solution to the Sudanese crisis.
The Ethiopian official reaffirmed in a press statement his country’s commitment to supporting peace efforts in Sudan, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation to foster dialogue among the various Sudanese factions.
He highlighted that achieving a lasting political solution requires coordinated efforts from all parties, including neighboring countries and international partners.
Both sides expressed their hope for increased collaboration to support regional stability and address the challenges facing Sudan.
