Hakimi Tops the List of Nominees for African Player of the Year Award
Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi is strongly competing for the African Player of the Year award for the second consecutive year after being shortlisted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Monday.
According to the German news agency, Hakimi, a star for Paris Saint-Germain, is up against Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy, Borussia Dortmund’s Ivorian forward Simon Adingra, Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman of Atalanta, and South African goalkeeper Ronwen Williams of Mamelodi Sundowns.
The winners of the 2024 African Football Awards will be revealed during the CAF ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco, on December 16.
CAF also announced the shortlist for the Best Young Player award, which includes Ivorian Karim Konaté of Red Bull Salzburg, Moroccan Elias Ben Sghar of AS Monaco, Ivorian Omar Diakité of Stade Rennais, Gambian Yankuba Mendy of Brighton, and Senegalese Lamine Camara of AS Monaco.
