UN Report Allegedly Proves UAE’s Involvement in Arming Militia

Sudan Events – Reports
Sudan’s Deputy Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Ammar Mahmoud, responded to a controversial tweet by Anwar Gargash, advisor to the UAE President, regarding the failure of the Security Council to adopt the British draft resolution.
Ambassador Mahmoud tweeted, “At the very moment Gargash was tweeting, feigning sorrow over the humanitarian tragedy in Sudan, members of the Security Council received a confidential report from the Darfur expert panel proving the UAE’s involvement in shipping weapons to the militia through Chad.”
He added, “Thus, any talk about narrow political calculations should be directed at his own country, which is contributing to the killing and displacement of Sudanese people and exacerbating their suffering.”
Earlier, Anwar Gargash had tweeted that the Security Council’s failure to adopt a resolution calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the protection of civilians in Sudan was regrettable, representing a missed opportunity to stop the bloodshed in a war that no party can win.
Gargash further stated, “Priority should be given to addressing the humanitarian catastrophe in Sudan, not narrow political or field calculations.”
