UEFA Awards Romania Points Against Kosovo After Walk-Off in Nations League
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced on Wednesday that it has awarded Romania a 3-0 victory over Kosovo after the latter withdrew from a match played in Bucharest as part of the UEFA Nations League.
The match between Romania, the leaders of Group B in League C, and Kosovo, in second place, was abandoned in injury time on Friday after Kosovo players left the pitch while the score was still 0-0. They reportedly heard pro-Serbia chants, which Romania has denied.
The Romanian Football Federation was fined 128,000 euros (135,000 dollars) for multiple offenses, including discriminatory behavior and inappropriate conduct by their team.
Romania will play their next home match behind closed doors due to racist and discriminatory behavior from their fans.
Kosovo’s Football Federation was also fined 6,000 euros for improper conduct by its team.
