Federal Governance Minister Mohamed Kurtikela Saleh issued a decision on Tuesday to merge state ministries, reducing their number from 7 or 5 in some states to only three.
The restructured ministries are:
1. The Ministry of Finance, which will encompass all economic portfolios.
2. The Ministry of Education and Services, covering infrastructure, engineering affairs, religious endowments, culture, media, youth, and sports.
3. The Ministry of Health, which will include social welfare, zakat, health insurance, pensions, and humanitarian aid.
Minister Kurtikela attributed the decision to the country’s economic conditions and the need to reduce administrative burdens.
In a statement, he emphasized that the restructuring would encourage innovative administrative practices, foster teamwork, and streamline oversight while addressing the challenges of the current phase. He also stressed the importance of selecting competent ministers with extensive knowledge and strong leadership skills.
The minister urged the newly formed ministries to maintain organizational cohesion and promote collaboration.
