Currency Replacement Committee Urges Strict Measures

On Thursday, Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, member of the Sovereignty Council and assistant commander of the army, chaired the fourth meeting of the High Committee for Currency Replacement.
The meeting directed several states to adopt strict measures in coordination with security agencies and relevant institutions to combat smuggling and counterfeiting during the currency replacement process.
Khalid Al-Eissar, Minister of Culture and Information and the committee’s spokesperson, stated that the meeting discussed various technical issues related to the process, including evaluating the banking system’s readiness and monitoring the performance of technical and operational committees in different states.
He noted that the committee reviewed preparations for launching the accompanying media campaign, stressing the importance of collective efforts to ensure a smooth transition. The meeting concluded with several recommendations, including expediting the media campaign to encourage the opening of bank accounts to prevent overcrowding when the deadlines for currency replacement are announced.
