Member of the Sovereign Council and Assistant Commander-in-Chief, Major General Ibrahim Jaber, affirmed the Sudanese government’s commitment to facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need and ensuring the work of relief teams and humanitarian organizations.
During a meeting in his office in Port Sudan on Monday with the European Union Special Envoy to the Horn of Africa, Annette Weber, he discussed the steps the government has taken to support humanitarian work, including opening various crossings and local Sudanese airports to allow the entry of humanitarian aid.
Major General Jaber provided a detailed explanation of Sudan’s position and its openness to all initiatives that aim to achieve security, stability, and the sovereignty of the Sudanese state, while preserving the dignity of the Sudanese people. He confirmed that the Jeddah platform is the reference that guarantees the rights of the Sudanese people by ensuring the removal of the terrorist militias from civilian areas and governmental and popular institutions.
He said, “What happened on April 15th was a coup against the government and the execution of malicious plans supported by external parties,” and called on the European Union to pressure regional and international actors to stop the flow of weapons and mercenaries into Sudan.
For her part, the EU Special Envoy to the Horn of Africa expressed her appreciation for the Sudanese government’s efforts to enhance and support humanitarian work.
