Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The acting governor of South Darfur, Bashir Marsal Hashem Al-Rasoul, revealed a series of security threats with the continued rebellion of the Rapid Support Forces militia, which has targeted citizens in all aspects.
In an informational forum discussing the issues of South Darfur, held on Thursday in Port Sudan, he stated that the supply of weapons to the militia is still ongoing through (5) secret landing sites, including Nyala Airport, the UNAMID runway, and other landing sites. He pointed out that these threats have been escalated to higher authorities for immediate action, while also noting the continued smuggling of gold, gum, and crops from Nyala Airport to the hostile neighboring country.
Marsal accused unnamed organizations of mismanaging donor funds, explaining that there are 58 organizations operating in the state, and their performance has been unsatisfactory. He also announced the suspension of 124 members of the local administration and 257 employees who had cooperated with the militia, in compliance with a decision issued by the Ministry of Federal Governance.
