Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The Sudanese Humanitarian Aid Commissioner, Salwa Adam Beniya, has stated that the failure of UN organizations to condemn documented violations and obstructions of humanitarian aid delivery by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) emboldens the militia to escalate its crimes.
On Tuesday, the commissioner met with British Ambassador to Sudan, Richard Throder, at her office in Port Sudan.
During the meeting, she provided a detailed briefing on the humanitarian situation in Sudan and urged donors, led by the United Kingdom, to fulfill their financial commitments to support humanitarian efforts in the country.
Salwa reaffirmed the Sudanese government’s commitment, through the Humanitarian Aid Commission, to facilitating and expediting the delivery of aid to those affected by the war across the country. She highlighted the militia’s obstruction of humanitarian assistance, its redirection of aid to unintended destinations, and its looting of relief trucks and mobile assets of humanitarian organizations.
She also pointed out that the lack of condemnation from international organizations and UN agencies regarding these violations encourages the militia to persist in its crimes.
