(22) Savings Bank Employees Reinstated to Service
Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The Board of Directors of the Savings and Social Development Bank issued a decision to reinstate (22) senior employees of the bank who had been suspended for three years.
Bank employees described the decision as historic and impactful, coming after three years of an investigation against the employees, following a report filed by the previous board of directors led by Ezz Al-Din Al-Safi, who joined the ranks of the Rapid Support Forces after the outbreak of the war.
The case included several procedural violations, as it was filed directly with the Committee for Dismantling the Former Regime without fulfilling the necessary administrative steps within the bank, such as investigation and accountability. The case was directly referred to the Committee for Dismantling the Former Regime and then to the public prosecution in charge of financial violations.
The decision also included the reinstatement of the suspended employees and their treatment like their colleagues in active service.
The decision indicated that the case was transferred from Gedaref to Port Sudan, where the bank’s headquarters and administrative capital are located, and where such cases are processed.
