On Friday, the Sudanese and Swiss governments discussed the importance of cooperation between the two countries to track and recover artifacts stolen by the rebel militia and ensure their return.
Minister of Culture and Information, and government spokesman, Khalid Ali Al-Eiser, tweeted on the platform (X) expressing his happiness after meeting with the Swiss Special Envoy to the Horn of Africa, Ambassador Silvan Astier. During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Switzerland and Sudan in the fight against the theft of Sudanese artifacts and the preservation of cultural heritage.
Al-Eiser added, “We discussed the importance of constructive cooperation between both parties to track the stolen artifacts and ensure their return, which will contribute to protecting Sudan’s unique cultural heritage for future generations.”
He mentioned that Switzerland, with its strong track record of supporting countries in recovering looted artifacts, serves as a model in this field. “We hope this cooperation will yield tangible results that serve the interests of the Sudanese people and contribute to preserving and protecting their cultural heritage.”
