Erdogan Offers Mediation Between Sudan and the UAE, Al-Burhan Welcomes It

The Chairman of the Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, received a phone call from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during which he reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to the unity and stability of Sudan, reiterating Turkey’s support for the Sudanese people with all available resources.
President Erdogan expressed continued humanitarian aid from Turkey, mentioning the upcoming resumption of Turkish Airlines’ operations, and emphasized his country’s willingness to make efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations between the two countries. He also stressed the importance of cooperation in agriculture and mining sectors.
Erdogan showed Turkey’s readiness to mediate between Sudan and the United Arab Emirates to establish security and peace in Sudan.
For his part, General Al-Burhan praised Turkey’s supportive stance towards Sudan, commending its efforts for peace and stability in the region and its handling of many regional and international issues, pointing to its success in addressing the Syrian file.
Al-Burhan welcomed any Turkish role in helping to stop the war caused by the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia, calling for enhanced Turkish investments in various fields. He affirmed his confidence in President Erdogan’s positions and the Turkish government’s support for the Sudanese people and their choices.
In this context, the Turkish Presidency stated in a statement: “Erdogan informed Al-Burhan that Turkey could intervene to resolve the disputes between Sudan and the UAE, highlighting Turkey’s core principles such as ensuring peace and stability in Sudan, safeguarding its territorial integrity and sovereignty, and preventing the country from becoming a battleground for foreign interventions.”
Erdogan also mentioned that Turkey launched the Ankara Process to resolve the dispute between Somalia and Ethiopia, noting that the agreement contributed significantly to establishing peace in the region.
He also pointed out that the Syrian people have reached a stage of determining their future after 13 years of humanitarian crisis, and that Turkey will contribute to this process.
Erdogan emphasized Turkey’s support for maintaining Syria’s territorial integrity and that this support will continue to ensure that the interim government takes comprehensive and correct steps, providing services to the Syrian people without posing a threat to its neighbors.
