Russia Captures Strategic Towns in Eastern Ukraine

On Sunday, Russia announced the capture of strategic towns in two key frontline regions of eastern Ukraine, advancing toward the cities of Pokrovsk and Kurakhove.
In its daily briefing, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that its forces had “liberated” Vesely Gai, south of Kurakhove, and Pushkin, south of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region. This marks significant progress in a region that has seen months of heavy fighting.
Moscow’s forces have accelerated their offensive, reportedly capturing more Ukrainian territory in November than in any other month since March 2022, according to data from the U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces described “intense battles” near Kurakhove and Chasiv Yar, a hilltop town under heavy attack. The military noted that the situation remains fluid, with ongoing efforts to regroup and strengthen their tactical position.
