The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Engineer Walid Al-Khuraiji, stated that the solution to ending the crisis in Sudan begins with a ceasefire, enhancing humanitarian response to the Sudanese people, and preparing for a political future for Sudan that ensures its security, stability, unity, sovereignty, and independence, while halting foreign interventions.
In his speech at the third consultative meeting on enhancing coordination for peace efforts in Sudan, held in Mauritania on Wednesday, he emphasized Saudi Arabia’s responsibility towards Sudanese brothers, noting the Kingdom’s significant efforts to resolve the current crisis. Saudi Arabia, along with the United States, hosted the two warring factions in Sudan and facilitated the Jeddah (1) talks, which led to the signing of the Jeddah Declaration to protect civilians in Sudan and a short-term ceasefire agreement. Saudi Arabia also hosted the Jeddah (2) talks aimed at finding a sustainable political solution to ensure Sudan’s security and stability, prevent the collapse of the state, and preserve its institutions.
Al-Khuraiji reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to continue coordinating with Arab, Islamic, and friendly countries to cease the fighting in Sudan and alleviate the suffering of its people.
He added that Saudi Arabia believes the solution to the Sudanese crisis begins with halting the fighting and enhancing humanitarian assistance, paving the way for a political future that ensures Sudan’s security, stability, and sovereignty, and ending foreign interference.
