Mauritania’s Foreign Minister, Mohamed Salem Ould Merzouk, called for avoiding the duplication of initiatives to facilitate access to a peaceful solution in Sudan.
The Mauritanian Foreign Minister opened the third consultative meeting on the Sudanese crisis held in Nouakchott, calling for an “immediate and permanent ceasefire in Sudan and the preservation of its territorial integrity and unity.”
The meeting was attended by representatives from the United Nations, African Union, European Union, Arab League, and the United States.
The Mauritanian Minister described Sudan’s current situation as a critical phase that requires increased efforts and a spirit of solidarity and responsibility from all Sudan’s partners. He hoped that the Nouakchott meeting would contribute to reinforcing peace efforts and achieving an urgent and permanent ceasefire to ensure the protection of civilians, facilitate humanitarian aid, and establish the foundations for sustainable peace.
