Opening Accounts and Cash Deposits for Refugees in Kassala

The Currency Replacement Committee in Gedaref State, during their visit to the Tandiba camp in Al-Mufaza locality, led by Brigadier General Ahmed Ali Abdul Rahim, Commander of the Second Infantry Division, and Molana Sidiq Ahmed Al-Nur, Head of the Public Prosecution in the state, and the Commercial Registrar, assured the continuation of currency replacement operations and the opening of accounts and cash deposits for Ethiopian refugees through the Agricultural Bank.
The visit revealed that currency replacement operations and cash deposits were ongoing at all banks in the state in implementation of the directives of the Sovereign Council and the Central Bank of Sudan.
Brigadier General Ahmed Ali Abdul Rahim praised the Agricultural Bank for reaching Ethiopian refugees at the Tandiba camp, which houses about 23,000 Ethiopians from the Tigray ethnic group. He emphasized the implementation of the Central Bank’s directive to open accounts and facilitate cash deposits for refugees using the identification cards issued by the Refugee Commission, provided they are valid.
The Commander reiterated the commitment of the Gedaref government to complete the currency replacement process within the stipulated time.
