Three UN Employees Killed, Government Condemns Targeting UN Agencies

The Sudanese government has reiterated its rejection and condemnation of any targeting of United Nations agencies and all humanitarian workers.
On Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement following the killing of three World Food Program (WFP) employees in the Yabus area, Blue Nile State, near the Ethiopian-Sudanese border, after they were subjected to shelling the previous night, according to a report from the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator’s office in Sudan.
The government confirmed that the relevant authorities will investigate the incident to determine who was responsible, noting that the Sudanese Armed Forces currently have no active military operations in that area.
The Sudanese government extended its heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and reiterated its commitment to international humanitarian law, emphasizing the protection of humanitarian workers from any dangers.
