Sudan Events – Follow-ups
Local sources told Darfur24 on Saturday that attacks carried out by militias allied with the Rapid Support Forces on Abu Zuraiqa and nearby villages in Dar Al-Salam locality, southeast of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, late last week resulted in dozens of casualties and missing persons among the locals.
The sources reported that the attacks targeted Abu Zuraiqa and the villages of Tamdehish, Dim Silk, Rikhwa, Hila Ya’qoub, Kabqa, Hila Ahmed, and Hila Adam Neil, leaving 60 people dead, including women, children, and the elderly, in addition to dozens reported missing. The attacks also forced a near-complete displacement of the population.
One of the villagers fleeing Dim Silk, Khamis Adam Khater, told Darfur24 that “the villages near Abu Zuraiqa experienced panic and fear on Wednesday and Thursday due to these armed militia attacks, prompting residents to flee.”
A community leader at the Zamzam camp near El Fasher, Mayor Ahmed Nour, stated that hundreds of families from Abu Zuraiqa and surrounding villages had arrived near the camp seeking refuge.
