Northern State Denies Currency Exchange Extension
Sudan Events – Reports
The Northern State’s committee for currency exchange denied extending the exchange period, confirming that the process would conclude on Monday as determined by the federal committee.
Northern State Governor Abideen Awadallah chaired a meeting on Sunday in his office to oversee the gradual currency exchange process.
Fath Al-Rahman Malik, the Central Bank of Sudan’s Dongola branch director and the committee’s rapporteur, stated that the currency exchange process would end on Monday, clarifying confusion between the Northern State and Sennar State. He explained that Sennar started the process later, so their exchange period will extend until December 31, granting them an additional eight days.
Malik assured that the currency exchange process was progressing smoothly and that some immediate measures would be implemented in certain localities to facilitate the exchange.
