Chinese Mining Companies Resume Operations in Sudan

Sudan Events – Updates

The Chinese Mining Companies Association in Sudan announced that all Chinese companies operating in the country’s mining sector will resume activities at the beginning of next year.

The Director-General of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, Mohamed Taher Omar, during his meeting on Monday with the Association’s Chairman and the Director of “Al-Nawati” and “Golden Bridge” companies (Sun Jian Bo) in Port Sudan, pledged to provide full technical and administrative support to Chinese companies. This is to ensure they resume operations and enter the production phase as soon as possible.

Mohamed Taher reassured the Chinese companies of the stable security conditions at mining sites, welcoming the plans and programs of the Chinese Mining Companies Association in Sudan. He emphasized significant coordination with the Blue Nile State government to facilitate the resumption of chrome mining activities by the Chinese companies.

The Director of the Chinese Mining Companies Association in Sudan—also the Director of Al-Nawati and Golden Bridge companies—provided a detailed briefing on the latest arrangements for the resumption of their activities. He revealed that the Association has officially resumed operations in preparation for the return of the companies by early 2025.

Sun Jian Bo disclosed that the Association held a meeting with mining companies in China and formally informed them of the resumption of operations in Sudan. This follows a recent visit by the Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, to China, accompanied by the Director-General of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company. During the visit, they held several meetings with Chinese companies and the Association. Sun Jian Bo confirmed that Al-Nawati Mining Company will officially resume operations at the start of 2025.
