Juba: 16 Sudanese Citizens Killed in Violence in South Sudan

The South Sudanese police reported on Monday that 16 Sudanese citizens were killed in riots last week, allegedly in response to the killing of South Sudanese nationals in Sudan’s Gezira state.

According to the National Police of South Sudan, “Reports indicate that 16 Sudanese citizens were killed in four states.”

The statement added that police would continue patrols in markets and residential areas to protect Sudanese citizens.

In a separate statement, the South Sudanese military announced that at least 24 suspects had been arrested, with charges to be filed upon completion of investigations.
